NingXia Red: steady energy, whether you want it or not!

NingXia berries 1NingXia bottle with singles 1

It's been about 4 weeks since I started taking a new supplement from Young Living - NingXia Red.

What is NingXia Red? Per the Young Living site:
A superfood-sourced, essential oil-infused supplement, plus the vitamins and antioxidants your body requires.

The premise of this supplemental drink is the finding that the number of residents living past 100 years old in the region of NingXia, China exceeds the national average by 400%. Some believe this is because the natives of that area consume the local wolfberry (pictured above), which is super healthy and contains all sorts of amazing things. I might have just paraphrased that based on 4+ pages of propaganda from Young Living which was WAY! TOO! ENTHUSIASTIC! for me, personally.

From what I can tell, the basis of the nutritional value of the wolfberry is that it is very high in antioxidants and beta carotene while also remaining sweet and easy to consume. The NingXia Red juice is pleasant to drink. It's a little like orange juice and berry juice together. You drink just a shot glass of it per day.

NinXia Red in Shot Glass

Who doesn't want to get tons of antioxidants and beta carotene in just a shot glass per day?! Especially since I might be forgetting to eat fruits and vegetables myself, even while feeding them regularly to my children.

The other benefit touted for this product is increased energy levels. Now, I'm not looking for Red Bull. I don't want something that revs me up and then dumps me down right at lunch time. If I want that, I would drink espresso. I just want the steady energy that good nutrition provides, which I might not be getting through my food.

What did I find after about a week? I was actually really surprised by the effectiveness of NingXia Red to provide steady energy throughout the day. A lot of times I am so tired by the kids' naptime that I lie down for the first 20-30 minutes and have a nap myself before getting started on household tasks or writing. After a few days of taking NingXia Red, I found that I didn't need to lie down at naptime! And this was while I was getting sick and not sleeping well at night.

In fact, this kind of bit me in the bum a bit, because even when I got sick and feverish,  I still felt this underlying current of alertness. I felt that if only I didn't have this fever and sore throat, I might just go ahead and get out of bed and mop the floor! Not crazy, jittery energy, mind you. Just that I wasn't completely drained and unable to move from my bed, even when I was sick. I've actually never felt jittery from NingXia Red.

I'll be honest with you: I'm not on a workout program. I actually do not exercise right now, aside from going up and down our stairs more than 50 times a day, always carrying at least one toddler (which probably actually burns a bunch of calories). But if I did work out, this would be a great supplement to take in the morning so that you're not worn out by the end of the day when you should go to the gym. Or to help give you energy for a morning workout.

Either way, I highly recommend this supplement, and I'll keep taking it as long as I can afford it! It comes in 1-liter bottles (approximately 1 month of product) and convenient squeeze-and-go single-serving pouches. Don't forget, you can order this through my Young Living web site or contact me directly at jenny [at] conscientiousconfusion [dot] com for free shipping in the Dallas area!

NOTE: I do not get this product free for reviewing - I have to pay for all of it out of my own money. However, if you enjoy reading this blog, I would be very grateful if you purchase Young Living product from me or through my web site to support this blog and my family!
